Second generation.
Same trade.
Nick Bouhoutsos started the company in 1977 with two employees, supplying and building crib block walls for the civil and commercial trade. His son George runs it today, and the work is the same: retaining walls designed, built and certified for head contractors who cannot afford a wall that fails.
The name says what the company was built on. Crib block walls were the first system, and for years the only one. As the systems the trade used broadened, so did ours: Keystone and Allan Block segmental walls, Keymass mass blocks placed by machine, concrete sleeper walls, gabions and rock mattresses, RSS precast, reinforced block cantilevers and stacked rock.
Who we work for
Head contractors and developers, mostly. John Holland and Richard Crookes on Defence establishments; ARTC on a freight corridor; Hansen Yuncken, ADCO, FDC and Australand on commercial and industrial sites; Stockland, Burton and Daracon on residential estates; Watpac on social housing. The relationships go back decades in some cases, and the reason is simple: the wall goes up on programme and the certificate arrives with it.
How we work
Design, supply, construction and certification as one contract. We price from the drawings and the geotechnical report, recommend the system the site calls for rather than the one we would prefer to sell, and build it with our own crews and plant. Inspection and test plans, hold points and material certificates are part of every engineered wall, so the head contractor's quality system is satisfied without a chase.
Where we work
Sydney day to day, from the head office in Coogee. Regional NSW and the ACT as mobilised programmes, with crews, plant and supervision on site for the duration: Blamey Barracks at Kapooka and HMAS Harman in Canberra were both delivered that way.
Supply
Long-standing relationships with the precast and masonry manufacturers behind each system, with gabion basket makers and with the quarries around Sydney. On gabion work in particular, dealing directly with the basket and rock suppliers is what lets us price and programme reliably.
