Gabions are wire-mesh baskets filled with rock, stacked to form flexible gravity walls, and laid flat as mattresses to armour banks and channels. A wall that moves with the ground
A gabion wall is a gravity structure that is also flexible. If the ground beneath it settles or scours, the baskets deform rather than crack, and the wall keeps retaining. Water passes straight through the rock, so hydrostatic pressure never builds behind it. That combination is why gabions are the standard answer along creeks, drainage lines and anywhere the ground is wet or moving.
Mattresses, blankets and rip rap
The same rock and mesh laid flat becomes a rock mattress or rock blanket that armours a bank or channel bed against scour. Loose rip rap protects outlets and toe lines. We design the rock size to the flow velocity and place it with our own plant.
Design and supply
Basket specification, rock grading, filter fabric and the wall geometry are all designed to the site. Because we deal directly with the basket manufacturers, the rock suppliers and the quarries, we can price and programme gabion work reliably, and we install it with the same crews that build our block and crib walls.
