RSS precast concrete retaining walls
Our RSS precast walls use factory-made concrete components engineered for applications where the ground moves. Every unit is manufactured under controlled conditions to consistent strength and finish, then assembled on site into a wall that resists earth pressure and settlement without cracking.
Where it fits
- Civil and infrastructure retaining
- Rail and road corridors
- Reactive or settling ground
- Walls needing a consistent precast face
- Fast programmes with limited site works
- Tiered and terraced retaining

Made in the factory, built on site
The strength of a precast system is that the hard part happens before the truck arrives. Each component is cast to a controlled mix and finish, cured properly and checked before it leaves. On site the work is base preparation, placement and backfill, which is faster and less weather-dependent than casting in place.
Built for movement
The components are designed to interlock rather than to bond. A wall built this way flexes with settlement, vibration and the seasonal movement of reactive clay instead of resisting it and cracking. It is the same principle as the crib wall, applied with a different component set.
Applications
We use RSS precast on civil work where a consistent, durable face is wanted along a corridor or batter, and on commercial sites where the programme is tight. The units suit terraced arrangements and can be combined with our other systems where the design calls for it.
