The project
Blamey Barracks at Kapooka is the Australian Army's recruit training centre, south-west of Wagga Wagga. For Richard Crookes Constructions, UCBC delivered 1,600 square metres of retaining wall on the establishment, completing in 2013.
Working in the Riverina
A regional Defence site five hours from Sydney means self-sufficient crews: plant, materials and supervision mobilised for the duration rather than run day to day from the office. We programmed the wall to the head contractor's sequence and delivered it without return trips.
Why it matters
With HMAS Harman in Canberra, this is the second Defence establishment carrying our walls, and evidence that we can deliver to a Defence quality regime a long way from base.
